Two Sides of A Coin

My husband and I wanted a place to share our projects...I do crafting (e.g. cards, sewing, etc...), household projects, and parties for kids. My husband makes toy trucks, household projects (e.g. closet redesign), and helps with party decorations and games. While he's a professional contractor, we do this for fun. We both cook, but I am more likely to try new and different recipes. We'll be trying out Pinterest items and reporting back.

Apple Topping for Pancakes

Have alot of apples and running out of ways to use them.  I found myself in this spot a few weekends ago.  And I hate for food to go bad.

So, I found this recipe on Pinterest and was intrigued. So, I whipped it together when we had some guests over for breakfast.  They loved it!

 Warm Apple Topping

Ingredients
4 medium apples, peeled and diced into bite sized pieces (any good baking apple will do)
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional)
1 tablespoon butter

Directions
  1. In a small pot over medium heat, mix together the cornstarch and the brown sugar.
  2. Add all of the ingredients except for the butter and  stir to combine.
  3. Bring to a boil and let boil for at least a minute then reduce heat and simmer until apples are tender (about 8 minutes).
  4. Add the butter at the very end and stir to combine.
We gave it a 5 out of 5 stars.  Enjoy.
